ASSISTANT PROFESSOR : DANCE ETHNOLOGY,
position number 84434, University of Hawaii at Manoa, College of Arts and Humanities, Department of Theatre and Dance, tenure track, full-time, 9-month, pending position clearance and availability of funds, to begin August 1, 2011.
Duties : Teach undergraduate course in Dance in World Cultures and graduate courses in dance ethnology with emphasis in Pacific and Asian dance. Teach two or more of the following : technology for dance, research methods, Labanotation, business for dance, dance technique courses in Pacific or Asian forms, modern, ballet, or related area. Advise students, actively pursue an ongoing agenda of relevant professional development and involvement, participate in university/departmental responsibilities, other duties as assigned by the Director of Dance or the Department Chair.
Minimum Qualifications : Terminal degree (MFA or Doctorate) with current experience and research relevant to dance ethnology, ability to engage in scholarly/creative research, demonstrated competence in teaching at the university level.
Desirable Qualifications : Direct, choreograph, or interact with dance productions.
Pay range : Commensurate with experience and qualifications.
